1. Purpose
The Sanskriti Cricket League is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment for all participants. This Code of Conduct establishes the standards of behavior expected from all league members and provides a fair and consistent process for addressing misconduct.
This Code of Conduct applies to all registered members throughout the period of their membership, including league matches, league events, and any league-related activities.
2. Expected Standards of Conduct
All members are expected to:
- Play the game in the true spirit of cricket.
- Treat umpires, opponents, teammates, sponsors, and scorers with respect.
- Accept umpire decisions respectfully.
- Conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on the league.
- Refrain from abusive, threatening, intimidating, discriminatory, or offensive behavior.
3. Match Conduct
Communication with Umpires
- Players shall communicate with the umpires only through their team captain.
- In the event of a dispute, only the two captains and the umpires shall participate in the discussion.
- Other players shall not join or interfere unless requested by the umpires.
Player Conduct
Players shall not:
- Use abusive or offensive language.
- Display aggressive, threatening, or intimidating behavior.
- Show excessive dissent toward umpire decisions.
- Engage in unsportsmanlike conduct.
- Leave the field of play in protest or refuse to continue play.
A team that refuses to continue a match or leaves the field in protest will forfeit the match.
4. Role of the Umpires
During the match, umpires will monitor player conduct and may issue verbal warnings for violations of this Code of Conduct.
Captains may bring concerns regarding player conduct to the umpires during or immediately after the match.
Where they believe further action is warranted, the umpires may recommend disciplinary action to the Executive Committee.
The Executive Committee shall review the matter and make the final decision regarding any disciplinary action.
5. Levels of Misconduct
The examples below are intended as guidance and are not exhaustive. The Executive Committee may consider the seriousness of the incident, prior conduct, and any other relevant circumstances when determining disciplinary action.
Level 1 — Minor Misconduct
Examples include:
- Excessive, prolonged, or intimidating appealing intended to influence or pressure the umpire before or after a decision.
- Showing dissent toward an umpire’s decision.
- Inappropriate or disrespectful language that is not abusive.
- Minor unsportsmanlike conduct.
- Delaying play.
Possible Action
- Verbal warning by the umpire.
- Recommendation to the Executive Committee for further action, if warranted.
Level 2 — Serious Misconduct
Examples include:
- Abusive or offensive language directed at another player, umpire, scorer, or team official.
- Repeated Level 1 violations after receiving a warning.
- Aggressive or intimidating behavior.
- Leaving the dugout, team area, or boundary to confront or become involved in an on-field dispute unless requested by the umpire.
Possible Action
- Recommendation to the Executive Committee.
- Suspension for one or more matches.
- Any other disciplinary action deemed appropriate by the Executive Committee.
Level 3 — Gross Misconduct
Examples include:
- Physical assault or attempted assault.
- Fighting.
- Threats of violence.
- Discriminatory or hateful conduct.
- Any conduct that seriously endangers the safety of others.
- Any conduct that brings the league into serious disrepute.
Possible Action
- Immediate referral to the Executive Committee.
- Suspension pending review.
- Season-long suspension.
- Removal from league membership.
6. Executive Committee Review
The Executive Committee shall review matters referred by the umpires and determine whether a violation of this Code of Conduct has occurred.
In making its decision, the Executive Committee may consider:
- The seriousness of the incident.
- Whether the conduct was intentional.
- Any previous violations of this Code of Conduct.
- Any other relevant circumstances.
The Executive Committee’s decision shall be final.
7. Cumulative Violations
Violations of this Code of Conduct are cumulative throughout the season and do not reset at the conclusion of a match.
Repeated misconduct may result in progressively more severe disciplinary action, regardless of whether the violations occur in the same match or across multiple matches.
8. Spirit of the League
The Sanskriti Cricket League is a friendly, community-based league built on sportsmanship, mutual respect, and enjoyment of the game.
All members are expected to uphold these values and contribute to creating a positive experience for everyone involved.
