User Guide

A walkthrough for new clubs joining LegUmpire.

LegUmpire is a complete club operations platform built for community cricket — fixtures, registration, availability, drafts, live scoring, analytics, and team communications in one place.

This guide walks through what the platform does, what we need from your club to get you set up, and what the first few weeks look like.

1. What you get

A single sign-in for every player, captain, sponsor, and committee member at your club. Everything below is included from day one.

Public website (no sign-in required)

  • Season fixtures page — full schedule, results, venues, formats. Shareable URL, indexed by Google.
  • Club landing page — season summary, next match, club stats, sponsors, FAQ. Custom club branding.

For players

  • Player profile — photo, role (bat / bowl / keep / all-rounder), contact details, kit size, emergency contact.
  • Availability — mark yourself in or out per fixture in seconds. Captains see live availability before selecting XIs.
  • My fixtures — only the games you're picked for, on your phone.
  • Team events — practice sessions, nets, social events with per-member RSVPs.
  • Public player profiles — career stats, season form, batting and bowling averages, leaderboards.

For captains & team leaders

  • Squad availability matrix — see who's in for the next 6 fixtures at a glance.
  • Team event scheduling — create practices, send to your squad, track RSVPs.

For the executive committee (EC) / admins

  • Player registration — invite players via email or WhatsApp link. Players self-register; you approve.
  • Pre-season draft — snake-draft engine with a live "war room" projector view that captains and the audience can watch in real time. Sponsor flow lets non-playing supporters bid for naming rights on a team.
  • Tournament planner — schedule the full season, set match formats, venues, home/away.
  • Live scoring — ball-by-ball scoring from a phone with AI-generated commentary, recap posts, and squad assistant.
  • Reports — season summary, player participation, exportable to CSV.
  • User management — roles, permissions, deactivate departing players.

For sponsors

Sponsor a team, get a branded landing page, see team analytics, share the team's results on social media (auto-generated share cards).

AI features (included)

  • Match recap auto-generated from the scorebook.
  • Rich ball-by-ball commentary.
  • Squad assistant — ask "who's available next Saturday?" or "show me Rohit's last 5 innings".
  • Voice scoring on mobile for hands-free entry.

2. What we need from you to get started

A short checklist. The more of this you can send up front, the faster we get you live. Most of it can also be filled in via the admin UI after we provision your club, so don't hold up onboarding if anything is missing.

Club basics

  • Club name (e.g. "Bayside Cricket Club").
  • Short slug for your URL — letters, numbers, hyphens only. Becomes legumpire.com/o/<slug> (e.g. bayside-cc).
  • Club logo — PNG or SVG, square preferred, transparent background ideal. Min 512×512px.
  • Primary contact — name, email, mobile. This person becomes the club OWNER (full admin access).
  • Club founded year (for the public landing page).
  • Home ground / address (optional, shown on fixtures).

Season setup

  • Season name (e.g. "2026/27 Summer", "Winter League 2026").
  • Season start and end dates.
  • Match format(s) you play (e.g. T20, 40-over, two-day).
  • Number of teams in your club (if you run an internal draft).
  • Tentative fixture list if you have it — opponents, dates, venues, home/away. CSV is fine. Otherwise the admin UI lets you add them one by one.

Players

  • Player roster CSV — name, email, mobile, role (bat/bowl/keep/all-rounder), date of birth (optional). We'll send each player an invite link.
  • If you'd rather have players self-register, send us a single "open registration" link to share in your WhatsApp group and we'll enable it.

Roles & access (who does what)

  • Executive committee members (EC role) — president, secretary, treasurer, etc. Get admin-level access except for user management and billing.
  • Sponsors (if any) — name, contact, which team they're sponsoring.
  • Team leaders / captains — assigned automatically once teams are drafted, but flag anyone who needs early access.

Branding (optional but recommended)

  • Club colours (hex codes) for share cards and the landing page.
  • Sponsor logos.
  • Any sponsorship tiers / naming rights you want to honour.

Communication (optional)

  • Club email address for outbound notifications (defaults to a LegUmpire sender; using your own requires a custom domain setup).
  • WhatsApp group link if you want it linked on the player portal.

  • Authentication is via secure email magic links — no passwords for players to forget or reuse.
  • Hosting is on Vercel (US/EU regions), database on managed Postgres.
